The Lombard, Illinois and Crown Point, Indiana offices are seeking qualified applicants for a Design Engineer to work as a project team member to support transportation design projects for the Illinois Tollway, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and other clients in the Chicago metropolitan area. Working on IDOT and Tollway design projects is the primary focus for this position. The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks in a consulting and design role that will require application of technical skills.

Your role will be to perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations including development of engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E). The selected candidate will need to be self-directed, capable of independent tasks as well as supporting multidiscipline complex teams, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in the civil transportation industry with an enthusiasm for successful completion of projects that meet our clients’ need.

Your Key Responsibilities
Candidate will work under a licensed engineer.
Resolve engineering problems and tasks as they are assigned, with help as needed from more experienced staff.
Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations.
Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
Preparation of reports and feasibility studies.
Work as part of a team to complete general transportation engineering services for state agencies, counties, and municipalities.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
Your Capabilities, Credentials, and Requirements

Engineer Intern Certification or Licensed Professional Engineer
Proficient in the use of MicroStation and PowerGeopak/OpenRoads Designer required.
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
Ability to effectively discuss project issues with design team and the client.
Positive attitude, good energy, and proven passion.
Valid U.S. driver’s license
Education and Experience

Education: A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution; technical 2-year degree/diploma/certificate in a related program; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience on similar projects.
